Eugene L. Griffin

Eugene received his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1959. After five years as a trial attorney, Eugene began his career in the state and local tax area with special emphasis on real and personal property tax matters. In 1963, he joined the Chicago law firm which later became Arvey, Hodes, Costello & Burman, and served as Chairman of the firm's State and Local Tax Department for over ten years. In 1992, Eugene founded the law firm bearing his name. Throughout his legal career, Eugene has been actively involved in several bar associations' taxation committees and various other tax organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the International Association of Assessing Officers, and the Illinois Assessors Association. Eugene was Chairman of the Taxation Committee of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce from 1989 through 1991, and was involved in the founding of the Institute of Professionals in Taxation, formerly the Institute of Property Taxation, a nationally recognized organization which honored him with the Distinguished Service Award in 1982. Eugene also served as the Institute's legal counsel for 12 years and as a member of the Board of Governors for three years.

Terrence J. Griffin

Terry, a University of Illinois graduate, received his law degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. After five years of appellate and trial practice in the Criminal Division of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Terry joined a large Chicago litigation firm, where he practiced in various areas, concentrating primarily in municipal law. Terry has been a member of our firm since its inception in 1992. Terry is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Taxation Committee of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, and the Institute of Professionals in Taxation, formerly known as the Institute of Property Taxation. Terry has co-authored two chapters for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education on Subdivisions in the Illinois Land Use Law Handbook. In addition to his admission to the Illinois Bar, Terry is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Stephen F. Griffin

Steve is a graduate of the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Indiana. Steve worked for five years as a fee appraiser for a real estate appraising firm in Chicago, appraising a wide array of properties including downtown and suburban office buildings, heavy and light manufacturing plants, apartment buildings and shopping centers. Steve is a member of the Institute of Professionals in Taxation, formerly known as the Institute of Property Taxation and is currently a candidate for the M.A.I. designation from the Appraisal Institute. Steve has been with the firm since its inception.

Linda A. Arentz

Linda is one of the original members of the firm. Linda has been working in the property tax field for over 20 years. From 1975 through 1991, Linda was employed by the Chicago law firm of Arvey, Hodes, Costello & Burman in the firm's State and Local Tax Department. For the past five years, Linda has been a property tax analyst with our firm, concentrating in the areas of real estate tax payments, tax sales and redemptions, and illegal tax-rate objections. Linda is a member of the Certified Illinois Assessing Officials organization.

Eugene P. Griffin

Gene is a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign and received his law degree from DePaul University College of Law. After six years as a trial attorney with a Chicago litigation firm, Gene joined the firm in 1993. Gene is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association, where he serves on both the Real Estate Taxation Committee and Assessment and Appeals Subcommittee. Gene is an Arbitrator Panel Chairperson for the Cook County Circuit Court Mandatory Arbitration program and is also a participant in Pro Bono programs sponsored by the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago.

Christopher P. Griffin

Chris is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Chris was a fee appraiser with a real estate appraising firm in Chicago for four years, appraising all types of properties for financing and Ad Valorem tax purposes, including downtown and suburban office buildings, light and heavy industrial facilities, high-rise apartment buildings, and shopping centers. Chris is currently a candidate for an M.A.I. designation with the Appraisal Institute.

Lawrence J. Griffin

Lawrence is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and received his law degree from DePaul University College of Law. Prior to joining our firm in 1996, Lawrence spent four years as an Associate Attorney with a Chicago tort litigation firm, where he tried many personal injury cases in Cook County and the collar counties. Lawrence is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the California Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and serves on many committees with these associations. Lawrence is also a member of the Institute of Professionals in Taxation, formerly known as the Institute of Property Taxation and the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, and serves as an Arbitrator with the Cook County Circuit Court Mandatory Arbitration program. He is a current author for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Lawrence is also licensed to practice law in the States of California and Wisconsin.

James B. Ireland

Jim is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Jim earned over ten years experience in the real estate appraisal field with a local Township Assessor's Office, appraising various types of properties including suburban office buildings , light industrial facilities, small retail buildings, and shopping centers, before joining our firm in 1996. Jim has testified numerous times as an expert witness before the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board and several County Boards of Review. Jim is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser by the State of Illinois and is presently a candidate for the Appraisal Institute's M.A.I. designation.
